A Working Meeting

Ohio Depositories’ Influence

We hope in this meeting to create a document for the Depository Council, presenting the outcome of our discussions to help them make decisions based on our “carrots” to add or keep and removal of our “barnacles”. We hope to have lively discussions and brainstorming to create ideas that will help us operate in the future with physical and electronic government information dissemination.

10:45-11:00 Break
11:00-11:30 Panel Discussion on GPO Changes: Questions and Issues(Mary Prophet, John Graham)
11:30-12:00 Round Table Discussions: Suggested Topics:

  • What do users of government information really need?
  • How are we going to provide that information?
  • Digital information authenticity, storage, and retrieval
  • How does GPO provide services to fit users and information professionals� needs?
  • Shared regional collections or selective housing agreements, 5 year retention policy
12:00-1:30 Lunch Provided by the State Library of Ohio(Continue with Round Table discussions or switch tables and network)
1:30-3:30 Business Meeting

  • 1:30-2:00 Reports from Round Tables
  • 2:00-2:15 State of Ohio Documents Update (Audrey Hall)

Lunch will be provided by the State Library. In order to have an accurate count for lunch, please RSVP to Doreen  Hockenberry at hockenbe@ohio.edu by Friday, April 25. A variety of sandwiches  and condiments will be served.

Directions and Parking

The State Library of Ohio is located at 274 East First Avenue in Columbus. Driving  directions and a map are available on the State Library website at http://winslo.state.oh.us/slodirections.html.
The building is a tan-colored warehouse along the north side of East First Avenue. The parking lot and entrance are on the  west side of the building. Parking is free.

Thursday Night Gathering

For those of you who are staying overnight on Thursday, May 6, we are planning to  have dinner at Cap City Diner, 1299 Olentangy River Rd. Plan to meet at the restaurant at 7:30. Please RSVP Doreen  Hockenberry at hockenbe@ohio.edu or (740) 593-2718 by Friday, April 30 if you would like to attend.
