Ohio GODORT Fall 1998 Meeting
Public Library of Cincinnati
and Hamilton County

The Fall 1998 Ohio GODORT meeting will be held at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio (800 Vine Street–Library Square). Guest speakers will be Nan Myers of the University Libraries at Wichita State University. She will be discussing the Documents Data Miner which is hosted by Wichita State University. John Graham of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will also be presenting a program describing their Patent and Trademark Depository Library status. The meeting will be held in the Tower Room on the 3rd floor of the South Building beginning at approximately 10 a.m. (registration and refreshments begin at 9:30 a.m.). Parking Downtown

There is no library parking lot, except for handicapped spaces. The most convenient parking is at the Garfield Garage, a block west of the library on Ninth Street (left hand side). All day parking is $4.00. There are numerous other lots and garages in the immediate area. Rates vary.

Schedule

Dinner on Thursday Night (11/5)

For those who are staying overnight on Thursday, we plan to meet for dinner. We are arranging to eat at the revolving restaurant in the Quality Hotel Riverview (see below) at approximately 6:30 p.m. The reservation is for GODORT. Please RSVP to Mark Gooch if you are planning to come for dinner.

Directions

I-75 Southbound (from Butler Co., Dayton, Toledo, etc.)

Take Seventh Street exit 1E (exits from the right hand lane).
Cross Central, Plum, Elm, and Race.
Turn left on Vine (5th traffic light).
PLCH is between Eighth and Ninth on Vine on the right.

I-71 Southbound (from Warren Co., Columbus, Cleveland, etc.)

Take Gilbert and Reading Road exit 2 (exits from right hand lane).
Stay in left lane and take Gilbert (not Reading).
Continue straight at traffic light next to bus station.
Gilbert empties into Eighth Street at Broadway.
Continue straight ahead across Broadway, Sycamore, Main to Walnut.
(4 traffic lights)
PLCH is between Eighth and Ninth on Walnut.

Option 1:

Name: Garfield House Suite Hotel
Location: 2 Garfield Place, directly across the street from PLCH.
Rates: $69/night Government Rate
$149/night others
Parking: Available in Garfield Garage ($4/day) or other downtown garages and lots.
Breakfast: Downtown restaurants.

Notes: This is an all suite hotel. It is difficult to obtain the government rate. We suggest you contact the hotel to make sure you have the proper identification before registering. Being a part of the GODORT group will not be sufficient and there is no block reserved.

Name: Quality Hotel Riverview
Location: I-75 and Fifth Street Exit, Covington, Kentucky
…..(directly across Ohio River from Cincinnati)
Rate: $78 for single or double (Corporate Rate)
Parking: Free. Free shuttle for guests to downtown.
Breakfast: Restaurant on premises opens at 6:30 a.m. Numerous fast food restaurants in vicinity.

Note: A block of rooms at the Corporate Rate will be held for us until 2 weeks before the program. After that, you may still make reservations at that rate but any of our unused rooms will go back into the general pool. You must identify yourself as a member of the Ohio GODORT group to receive the Corporate Rate (Booking #5412–Cincinnati/Hamilton County Public Library). Check in time is 3:00 p.m. Check out time is 11:00 a.m. Luggage may be stored with the front desk/bell staff for early arrivals and late departures.
