The Spring Meeting of GODORT of Ohio will take place on Friday, May 29th at the State Library of Ohio. The agenda has been posted.
Denison University is seeking a Library Associate III to work with serials and government documents. This position will work under the supervision of the Discovery Librarian and the Social Sciences Liaison Librarian to: ensure that serials and government documents are received and processed in a timely manner; perform authority work and create records for information resources in all formats; upgrade existing cataloging; link bibliographic records; make corrections; process gifts; monitor inventory, including de-acquisition; ensure the highest level of accuracy. Additionally, the successful candidate may help with the upkeep of our local discovery layer, Summon. Must be able to perform functions of Library Associate I and II; may be assigned to perform advanced technical duties in library functions including, but not limited to, cataloging, interlibrary loan/resource-sharing, acquisitions, collection development, reserves, serials or reference.
High school diploma or equivalent and three years of college, or, equivalent combination of college and work experience are required.
A minimum of two years previous library experience as a staff employee using OCLC, OhioLINK and the Innovative Interfaces or comparable systems is required. Good organizational skills, experience handling funds and budgets, ability to follow through on problems and good oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to a variety of software applications.
A bachelor’s degree, familiarity with at least one non-English language, and 3-5 years of work experience as a library staff member. Skill with spreadsheets, some basic knowledge of financial accounting concepts, proficiency with numbers and details.

At our recent fall meeting, Mary Jenkins of the Hamilton County Law Library gave a presentation on the Uniform Electronic Legal Material Act (UELMA), and at the business meeting we discussed the possibility of adopting a resolution in support of it. The Draft GODORT UELMA resolution was adapted from one approved by the Ohio Regional Association of Law Libraries (ORALL), and we can take it up at our spring meeting. The Fall 2014 issue of Docs Prescriptions is now available. Issue 81 includes information about the Fall meeting at Denison University and some very interesting articles by several of our members.
